As you may already know, a supply chain is a network of all the individuals, organizations, resources, and activities involved in the creation and sale of a product. Our supply chain starts with the delivery of raw materials from our suppliers to a manufacturer and ends with the delivery of the finished product(s) to your practice.
Our supply chain is designed to meet our customer needs. Increased globalization, outsourcing, and availability of information spurred the need to integrate business processes across the entire global supply chain in the 1980s and 1990s.
More recently, one of the most severe economic problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was damage to the supply chain. Its effects touched nearly every sector of the economy, including healthcare. The supplies of products of all kinds were delayed by constantly changing restrictions along our national borders not to mention long backups in U.S. ports.
The COVID-19 pandemic also brought about an abrupt change in demand for many products. Severe shortages developed as consumers hoarded essentials like masks, antibacterial cleaning wipes, and hand sanitizers, which were suddenly in very high demand. In response, MediGroup tightened its supply chain processes to address shortages and increase on-time deliveries to our customers.
