MediGroup Physician Services was formed in July 1999 as an L.L.C. by Andy Klearman and Dr. Adam Summers. Since that time, we have changed continually, always pushing the envelope within the GPO industry. Our first office opened in December 1999 in St. Charles, MO, which began a journey that has spanned over two decades.
MediGroup initiated the creation of its personal contract portfolio and enrolled members. Very early in the process, this step provided a base that set the shape of our present success.
We signed a channel partner agreement with Innovative Coop Group, enabling our members to access First Choice GPO contracts. This was a pivotal moment, bringing hospital GPO contracts to physician offices and clinics.
In 2002, MediGroup developed the first GPO Distributor Friendly Model and earned the support of national distributors. This leading innovation made us the fastest-growing GPO focused on the non-acute healthcare market.
We transitioned our channel partnership from Innovative Coop Group to MedAssets, offering our members a more robust contract portfolio.
In 2004, Mark Vitale joined as Vice President of Operations and was promoted to President in 2013. The transfer of the baton to Andy Klearman as CEO has led the company into the next level of success.
Following the sale of MedAssets to Novation, which rebranded as Vizient with its non-acute DBA Provista, MediGroup became a channel partner under Provista, enhancing our contract offerings and services.
We went virtual in 2017, closing our St. Charles office and opening a small meeting office in Chesterfield, MO, to adapt to the changing business landscape.
We have grown innovatively, expanded, and delivered quality service to our members over the years. Our journey reflects our dedication to this industry for over two decades in the GPO business and sets an example for further service to the healthcare community for many more years to come.
